It would seems logical that the employee would be there to see if the drawer balances. It a register is in an employees name, they are responsible for the money in it. BUt if the manager balances drawer, then tells the employee that they were $20 short, who's there to verify that? Maybe that manager...

For less than 5 users, try this:
[link]

I haven't used it personally (from an admin side), but have seen it's use (from a computer lab).

This may sum it up: link When you quote gas prices, what do you say: 2.299 or 2.29 or 2.30. I think most people say 2.29 and ignore the .009, but they are really paying that. Most likely people wouldn't buy 2.300 gas when they could get 2.299 gas (since they most likely don't even look at the last 9...

Re: Digital time

I have decided that the program will store all the time punches in regular time of hours and minutes. But when you print the time cards you will be able to choose to print the cards using regular time or digital time. That is probably best. I think that most systems store it this way. Plus it would...

2 suggestions: 1.) The program should automatically select the next slot when it is run (which I would think it would, but since it can't save yet, there is no point). You don't want employees just selecting want slot then want to when, othewise there might be big trouble. Ex: Employee punches IN at...

The product number is a good thing to have. Look at Wal-mart. They put it (actually the UPC I think) on their receipts. Also, say someone buys a product at $7.00 and one at $4.00 and they both have simular descriptions and look nearly identical. Now say you reduce the $7.00 one to $4.00. If they wou...

one more thing i would LOVE an inventory reconciliation module. If i could go through the store, scan and enter inventory quantity and reconcile vs what is in the stock table, that would be GREAT I've thought about this too. Sort of a "cycle count" (the name by which I know this procedure) program....

How many times are you going into POSCONFIG? Anyway, I only here 3 beeps when I enter it from POSCONFIG.EXE, and only one when I enter from POS (using 3...1). If you press Enter fast through the menus, it goes fast.

Actually, you don't need Windows or Linux. DOS (more specifically MSDOS) is an operating system itself. All windows does (especially the later versons) is Emulate DOS. On XP you are not using true DOS, but a program written to act like DOS. As for networking, I think that you can use the NET USE com...

I get the error to. One problem you have, though, is the extra ? at the end of the address. however, even at the correct address (http://pages.prodigy.net/daleharris) there is an error. Yet dhpos.com is a mirror of the POS page at Dale's main site.

I think the same thing is happening to me. Actually, you can set any amount of timers and it will do the same thing. I don't have a LPT1 printer (don't even have a port) so when I hit TAB in the timer window, the program shuts down. TIMER and POS. I'm on XP-SP1

It is possible, but tricky and slow. There have been posts in the past (try the search function). Some people have gotten it to work with Palm DOS emulators, but it runs slow (if it even runs) and is small. What would be nice, though, would be to make DHPOS somehow work with a PDT device. At the pla...

To your first two questions: I think that somewhere in the user manual, Dale wrote that you might consider creating an item with an easy to remember number (like 999), with the name of Misc. Set the price to 0.00. When ever you enter that item into a sale, it will ask you for a price. For your secon...
