Re: 20 removed from this forum

Dale, if they are all recent new members you're being hit by spambots. It happens to all forums now. There's an outfit in Israel who promote clients via postings on forums all over the world. All automatic and they look like bona-fide members but their postings always contain links to the clients bu...

Re: Direct Access

:)
Yep, thanks. I'll maybe have another go when I've got what I know are the correct port settings.

Re: Direct Access

Hi again Dale, it was an Epson DM-D105. This time I ran it with a Star parallel printer. The system didn't hang or anything but the pole display output was gobbledeygook. Probably the settings which I set the same as for an Epson serial printer but as I haven't got time to sort it out I've abandoned...

Re: Direct Access

Dale, It was the printer I didn't have plugged in and I hadn't cfg'd to remove it so that was almost certainly the problem. I haven't had a chance to try again yet but I'll let you know how I get on. I've had this pole display for months and have never tried it out so I'm hoping it will work OK. Reg...

Re: Direct Access

Ak, OK. So this means you can't run a pole display if you run DHPOS in DOS mode. I tried and the system just stalled completely on boot up. I'll try again with the pole and a different printer and see what happens. PS I was confused as there used to be a DOS program called Direct Access but you've g...

Direct Access

I'm trying to set up a pole display to run in DOS. What the heck is 'direct access' and where can you get it assuming it's still available somewhere?

It seems I need it because POLE.EXE is a WIN32 program and cannot be run in DOS mode.

Thanks

Re: Graphical interface for POS

Price, no. It's something you control and it shouldn't be an item that is automatically updated by any system*. But to decide price you need to know COST. Cost is not something you can control but when you are making your price decisions it is obviously best to work on the latest, most accurate cost...

Re: Graphical interface for POS

Sighhh.... Because it's how every single stock control program in the world does it. And I don't want it to change the price, just the cost. What I do need to know is what the real total value of my stock is at any moment, not what its notional value would have been 9 months ago when I set the file ...

Re: Graphical interface for POS

Most retail outlets don't keep customer records so that is probably why there was a 'lack of interest'. However, if it allows easy editing and updating of stock records, including cost, that would be very useful as Dale has refused to countenance real time updating of stock cost when new stock is ad...

Re: Proposed new DHPOS screen

Nothing like taking a quarter of the screen to show information that's already clearly on there ;)

Someone take those scissors and that sharp pencil away from dol, will you....

But surely hitting Esc should stop everything and return you to the sales screen with no transaction going through at all.

Re: Serial printers

Dale, may I suggest that the problems experienced by many (most?) people with serial printers is because they could not tell a Baud from a Big Mac and for whom the notion of a Stop Bit is a totally closed book. You're implying by posting this that the problem is to do with the serial printer per se ...

Re: Selling theater seats

Despite the fact that 99% of the people who use DHPOS will have no interest in this feature whatsoever (IMHO) you're obviously hell-bent on going ahead with it. So as I want a couple of things that I'll be contacting you about later I'll be nice about it and encourage you in the hope of getting you ...

Re: Parking Tickets

:D
Made for it - that was an easy one

It always helps if you read the very helpful notes that Dale prepared that tell you exactly what the program does ;)

BUT before anyone asks - it won't be compatible with an automatic machine where you put your coin in the slot and the barrier rises

Re: Buggy Gift Cards

Folks, Dale is looking at one little detail but what I've seen is outstanding and does all the things I've posted about. This will be an excellent release and a great leap forward for anyone else like me who has up to now stuck with 6.39.
