Ak, OK. So this means you can't run a pole display if you run DHPOS in DOS mode. I tried and the system just stalled completely on boot up. I'm trying to set up a pole display to run in DOS. What the heck is 'direct access' and where can you get it assuming it's still available somewhere?

It seems I need it because POLE.EXE is a WIN32 program and cannot be run in DOS mode.

Price, no. It's something you control and it shouldn't be an item that is automatically updated by any system*. But to decide price you need to know COST. Dale, may I suggest that the problems experienced by many (most?) people with serial printers is because they could not tell a Baud from a Big Mac and for whom the notion of a Stop Bit is a totally closed book. You're implying by posting this that the problem is to do with the serial printer per se ...

BUT before anyone asks - it won't be compatible with an automatic machine where you put your coin in the slot and the barrier rises

Folks, Dale is looking at one little detail but what I've seen is outstanding and does all the things I've posted about. This will be an excellent release and a great leap forward for anyone else like me who has up to now stuck with 6.39.
