For "random price" items that aren't barcoded, I create a stocktable entry for every dpeartment. I set the stock number equal to the department number, and the description equal to the deaprtment name. So, If I have a non-barcoded item in the grocery department, and grocery is department 2, i ring u...

I've worked as a cashier in two retail supermarkets and in a restaurant. The restaurant system required every employee to clock in thru the system before attemping to take any orders and clock out before being allowed to cash out and collect tips at closing....the two supermarket systems required th...

some equipment for sale
Hi there. I've got some POS equipment for sale...thought I'd try my luck here before eBay.....all equipment, of course, is compatible with DHPOS. I've got a Logic Controls PD3000 pole display APG cash drawer (printer interface) Epson TMH5000II printer (parallel, of course) and a Symbol LS4000 scanne...

I can tell you that I have never seen this feature on any cash rigister or piece of POS software. I've owrked in large chain supermarkets with both IBM 4964 and currently Retailx Storeline, and neither had this feature. If I find I don't have enough cash (shame on me for not keeping up on my till), ...

It's all pretty crude but very effective. The drawer HAS to be closed by hand to re-engage the latch and re-compress the spring for the next time. There's no automatic mechanism in there at all to do the job. I think you must have mis-understood. I didn't mean a mechanism to automatically close the...

Drawer CLOSED code
I thought of something that may be convienient...might be something to consider for future versions: Most cash drawers can tell printers when they are open or closed, and thus printers can relay drawer status to the PC. On other systems I've worked on, the sales screen clears for the next sale when ...

Embedded logo
I saw a post earlier where someone said that he had gotten an Epson printer with embedded memory for a picture to work properly with DHPOS. Does anyone know how to do this? I haven't had much luck using Epson's logo utility...says my bitmaps aren't compatable and has comm. errors with the printer.

We use this feature at the grocery store I work at (using a Retailx Storeline system). Pretty handy. We use it to add excise tax to tobacco, bottle deposits on milk, or for reductions in buy x for y sales. There is a way around this, though....just include any tax/fee into the price of the item itse...
