Re: Still waiting for a new DHPOS version!

Dale, did you just stop the development of DHPOS? There will be no more DOS versions, last word on future development was a port to QB64 to allow running on modern operating systems and new features which wouldn't run under DOS but that was well over a year ago. Would like to think it's still going...

Re: Must Set User Defined Payment in PAYMENT OPT. & RECEIPT

Thanks so much for this Bruce, I've come across this in the past couple of weeks when I started taking PayPal and added it as a user defined type, thought it was a bug which would never get fixed now the DOS version is being put out to pasture. Now my customer receipts no longer have to have 'User D...

Re: Work to resume on DHPOS

Windows Vista/7 (and probably 8 as well) did impose a memory limitation on NTVDM (the emulator which allows DOS and Windows 3.1 programs to run in NT-based versions of Windows). In Vista/7 an old-school program cannot allocate itself any more than 32MB of memory. In previous versions there was no su...

Re: What is the best operating system for running DHPOS

I'd say Windows XP. It's stable and secure, easy to network, has complete support for the widest range of hardware, from a machine made last week to one that's 12 years old and is also new enough to still be supported with updates. The DOS support is complete enough that DHPOS can run natively and i...

Re: DHPOS on Ebay

Let's hope his support is good as a conservative estimate would put the hardware as being worth less than half of the asking price - that Dell Optiplex GX computer and the monitor were produced around 2002/03 and would be worth about £20 now, can't see the rest of the second hand hardware costing to...

Re: DHPOS, 64 bit in QB64

Works fine in Windows 7 32 bit. Also supports full screen mode on Vista/7 without needing DosBox, old video drivers or other hacks as you do with the DOS version. The downside to moving away from DOS is that it will no longer be possible to access it via Telnet/SSH, which did allow for things like u...

Re: DHPOS on Windows Server 2008

For most of the time I played with that configuration I ran KPyM on the server. This supports either true Telnet or SSH in a variety of terminal emulations. The free version includes a nag screen which makes you wait 5 seconds before you can log on but apart from that it's no different to the regist...

Re: Feature Request

Surely you can implement this yourself using the saved sales notes feature?

Re: 200 lines in a sale.

Loving the 'saved notes' feature. Just one thing though, atm it's too easy to overwrite notes accidentally/maliciously. Any chance of a password option so that you can require a password to save a note?

Re: POS version 7.05 released 4-28-11.

TBH, the 60 line limit has never been an issue for me. If you do feel the need to increase it, then surely 99 lines is the most logical since it will not require reformatting or redesigning any screens nor will any changes to the interface be needed to manage larger sales as might be a consideration...

Re: POS version 7.05 released 4-28-11.

If you are open to relatively easy to implement new features, I *really* wish you'd put back in that feature from an experimental version a couple of years ago (was it 7.04x1??) where if you edited the descriptions on an item and then went back in and reviewed the sale the changes would stay, rather...

Re: DHPOS on Windows Server 2008

The only reason I was using Server 2008 was because I was trying DHPOS on Amazon EC2. I wanted to see if I could create a network setup of DHPOS on one EC2 instance, and deliver it as a virtual application. Just experimenting. I've done similar experiments using Telnet and SSH to deploy across a ne...

Re: POS version 7.05 released 4-28-11.

Small bug in version 7.05. In 'Stock Table' in POSCONFIG, the option to warn if inventory is zero on specific lines hasn't been updated to allow for the 26,000 line stock table; you can only display the warning for up to 13,000 lines as before.

Re: DHPOS on Windows Server 2008

From what I have looked up, NTVDM is disabled by default on Windows Server for security reasons. Has anyone been able to run DHPOS on Windows Server, or do you have to go with DOSbox to make it work? NTVDM is the 16 Bit emulation subsystem which all NT-based versions of Windows need in order to run...
