Ok I put some thought to this... obviously there's no chancethat Dale is going to have time to be sending emails around, so I still need two people that will know IDS and have access to a couple of Admin functions so support end users via chat, telephone, whatever. These admins will need to have a s...

The comnpany I work for now, RadioShack, has 1gb USB drives on dsale right now (at leasty in my district) for 19.99 and 2GB drives for 34.99. This is a great solution for any retail store. But be sure that you dont do anything stupid like leave the USB drive in the USB port or preferably even in the...

When adding or altering employees, passwords, stock items, etc. it is best to be positive that DHPOS is Closed, i.e. do it after business one day when everything is all totaled out and there is no inter-register activity. Then perform the change on the server dhpos and it should be active at the sta...

IDS Administrators
I am looking for TWO people to be tech support admins for IDS. The only difference between these people and people who just know the program inside and out is that these two will have access to a couple of non-critical administrator functions. Anyone who is interested, send me an email at techrobins...

IDS Training
IDS now has a training program. This is to familiarize the GSM's with how to use IDS. IDS training is included with version 2.3, distributed to about 10 people this past week. It will also accompany the 2.3 release to anyone who requests it in the coming days. One thing that the IDS training doesn't...

Simply Control it
I have been working on an application to control POS on the main computer (the one holding the stock table). My program permits the manager(s) to control nearly every aspect of POS from a single, central GUI - instead of navigating various folders to open apps. It also can backup DHPOS to a folder a...

It usually gives me an illegal function call. BUT every once in a while it'll prompt me for a pin, and it wont accept any pin. I know i'm ...

Yeah it can be done on any version of windows above 3.xx. I have a book called windows 98 registry that tells all of that stuff. Undoubtedly you can find out how in the internet and just write a nice vb script to do it for you so whoever is actually doing this cant screw it up.

Two ways...
There are two ways I can think of to persue that. One: do like the company I work for does and make a little program for POS to run at close that saves the closing automatic reports output to a text file named as the date and stick it in a folder. Then give corporate dial-up access to the store's "s...

At my store, we now have to check twenties, the counterfeiting got so bad. And I work for a massive world-wide company. this is not a matter of big sales at all. A customer can pay for $200 worth the stuff in tens. The solution is to not accept 50s and 100s and to run a counterfeit pen over 20s. Thi...

Dale, idea to save the pos 'system'
OK so all of your store is in these series of files (store.pos, store.tbl, etc.) At my work, in the morning, the server runs this app that checks the files on the tills against the files on the server. This is primarily b/c any register will work without the server and the server, at POS open or POS...

Well, um, NO
The idea of a register closing itself out at a preset time is rediculus to me. I work with what is arguably the most advance POS system possible at my other job. If one of the worlds largest companies thinks that it's not a good idea, we shouldn't either. However, what - to me- is a good idea is an ...

Dale (and everyone else), IDS is a program that more or less helps you, the store manager, run the various operations of your store more efficiently. It includes tools such as the manager communication system and the labor report generator. IDS allows access to [almost] everything you need in order ...

Censorship with DHPOS
So, my the company that does the website blocking for Tennessee (and thus, my school district) decided that dhpos.com fell under the following circumstances: "Web sites that have been identified as providing inappropriate content are blocked. This determination is based upon the categorization of th...
