Star Serial Printer

Sorry about the delay. These settings work perfectly for a SP200 with DHPOS running in a DOS environment. COM1, 1200, 8 Data Bits, 0 Stop Bits, BIN mode Then set the printer 'Ready' code to 79 and in the printer setup make sure you force Line Feeds. Good to go! Oh yeah, and a receipt printer with RJ...

Okey dokey Dale. Thanks a lot. I'll bear that in mind for the future - not that there are that many bugs in DHPOS these days ;)

Date Bug

I'm still with 6.39C - haven't found any need to change. Been using the date format with the month in letters, not figures eg 12 JAN 2007 Have found that FEB has gone silly - date on the screen and on printouts is coming out as 12 Enter discount 2007 instead of 12 FEB 2007 or Enter discount 12, 2007...

What's wrong with just doing a per unit or % price reduction :?

That's what it's there for. Couldn't be easier and it's a major DHPOS 'selling point'

:| Why are you using Aprint?? If set up correctly I would expect this printer to print directly. Just recently I bought a SP200 serial thinking it was parallel and thought after all the serial bad press I'd wasted my cash. But after setting it up it worked beautifully with DHPOS. I'd expect the SP30...

Interesting little device. It appears to hook into your browser and grab information from the Net in a way you've programmed it to do, so it seems to be quite an active, intelligent little device. It would be interesting to see if it could be made to interface with DHPOS which would be just as a pas...

What I always suggest is that you configure your register and take a backup of 3 files - {yourshop}.TBL, {yourshop}.IDX and (yourshop).POS (where {yourshop} is the name of your register). Then you can play around as much as you want, doing training, trying out different transactions etc. In fact it'...

Can someone please tell me what this has got to do with a point of sale system which is all to do with ins and outs of stock and its cost and selling price? What has managing employees got to do with that? If you're worried about your employees arriving late for work or taking long lunch breaks you ...

The only thing I would say is that if you have multiple stores, I'm not sure that DHPOS is really the software you should be running, with all due respect to Dale. It's great for a small business just starting or moving up from a basic till but if you have multiple stores you should really be lookin...

Ian, sorry mate but you've got a death wish. You've bought a very specialised 2-station printer there that is obviously unsuitable for running DHPOS. You see this kind of thing being offered on Ebay all the time but I'd suggest it needs some some fairly specialised software to run. You should avoid ...

Or better still, avoid all the trauma and heartache and chuck it. I have tried to set up DHPOS using an excellent, fully complete, perfect serial printer and after quite a bit of time and effort, had no results whatsoever. Look and learn. DO NOT USE A SERIAL PRINTER WITH DHPOS. ONLY USE PARALLEL PRI...

Re: Column order

RollerBall, When you export the stock table from the POS program you can specify the order the columns are in. :D Exactly. But when you import you can't. And it's only when DHPOS 'checks' the clipboard that you find out what order it expects the columns to be in, in the file that it's importing, wh...

Stock File - Importing/Exporting Data

When you export data from the stock file, you will probably want to put the columns of the data file in the same order as they are in the stock file. However, if you want to import data using the clipboard method (eg from a CSV file) the columns have to be in a completely different order, which make...

Rollerball, from a business point of view gift cards makes a lot of sense. Of course they do and I go along with everything that's been said about them. But my points are that 1 - they are not a sale 2 - they are money held in trust 3 - money held in trust goes into your balance sheet not yo...
