POSnet - complete BETA version.

Since this note was originally posted the network version has been released. <hr> Well gang here is yet another BETA test version of POS for networks. What makes this one special is that ALL net network features have been implemented and the only thing left to do hunt down any remaining bugs and squ...

Numbers

GAWG,

Yep, that is true. The program stores stock numbers as numbers. It does not store leading zeros because 00012345 and 12345 have the exact same numeric value.

Beta testing

Chasmet, Version 5 is still in beta testing. This means thatit is not stable enough to release. At this time <u>no one</u> should actually be using version 5. Plus, except for the network feature, there are no other new features or bug fixes in version 5 so if you are a "single user" there is not re...

Vendor stock numbers

GAWG, While it is true that the regular stock numbers can only contain numbers you can also use "Vendor stock number" to ring up items and they can contain up to 30 of any characters. You fill in the "Vendor stock number" for each item in the stock table where you enter the rest of the information a...

Simulation

Actually, it is a touch screen <u>simulation.</u> While it displays information on the screen you will have to press the letter keys for anything to happen. While it would be swell to have a real "touch screen" feature that would require users to purchase a touch sensitive monitor, my simulation doe...

Bug

Robman, I have also tried to reproduce this error with no success. Does this happen with other pay methods than credit? When the network version of the program is set to use a network (i.e. you have entered a network PATH) then the program will write the sales information twice, once to the local fo...

POS translations

George, Currently you can use the "Receipt language" feature of the POSCONFG.EXE program to translate the labels on the receipts into any laguage you want as long as it uses the Latin alphabet. Eventually this feature will be expanded to allow anyone to translate the entire program. But this is a lo...

Swedish characters.

Patrick, 153 is the ASCII code for "Ö". 92 is the ASCII code for "\" So STAR is using a code for their printers that is not ASCII code. Do you have the Windows printer drivers loaded for this printer? If so you may want to use the APRINT program that comes with POS to control sending printing info t...

Swedish characters.

Patrick, I am assuming that you have been able to enter the swedish characters into the program (either the stock table descriptions or on the receipts by using "Receipt language" in the POSCONFG.EXE program) and that they will not print on the printer. Many receipt printers will not print the ASCII...

Touch screen simulation

Bubbling to the top of the "Think about it" pile today came this idea... Currently when you are entering items into a sale you can press [F1] to view the first page of the stock table. If the item you want to ring up is there you can press the indicated letter key (A - T) to enter that item into the...

Profit.

Andrew, Actually the stock table does have a field for "COST". <hr> bobcar, The profit thing has been discussed before in the forum archives and will be done eventually. Until then you can export the stock table to a comma delimited file that can then be uploaded into any spreadsheet program and the...

Wrong term?

Andrew,

Well the problem might lie in the fact that "Pineapple" is an old slang term for "Hand grenade" and maybe that is what the register thought you were trying to ring up. I think you can understand why those are not for sale. :)

Hello,

I just wanted to tell you that the Modified CueCat DOES work with Windows XP. I purchased it from eBay and tested it with your pos software, and it worked great!!!

Thanks.
Sean.
