Two POS folders.

Guest, You are not supposed to be able to ring sales, returns, etc. from the global folder so those options are not available from the POS software loaded there. To use that computer to also ring sales it must have TWO SEPARATE POS FOLDERS on that computer's hard drive. One of the folders must be th...

Dual logons

Consider me stupid. From several posts around here it has been brought to my attention that having one person log on to two registers at the same time is somehow a bad thing. I have no idea why that would be a bad thing or why anyone would want to do this, could you enlighten me? On chat someone men...

A bunch of answers for the price of one.

Boy, you step away from the forum for 20 hours to sleep and go to work for 12 hours and the place goes nuts. Well let's see how many things on this page I can answer. Tommy, On the computer that has the global folder you must also put a local folder if you want to be able to use the computer as a re...

[Q1] Staff can be logged into more than one register at time, is it a 'feature' or could it be prevented? [A1] I am willing to go with "feature" if you are. :) With the way the program is currently written there is no way for one register to know who is logged on on the other registers. I could do s...

Today's version

Ok, a new POSnet file has been uploaded here http://keyhut.com/pos3.htm The new version is 5.03 BETA New stuff... The “Go to after sale” feature mysteriously disappeared from the earlier uploads, it is in this one. You will have to use the new file to go to the “Network” feature in the POSCONFG.EXE ...

2 Versions

Barry, I started writing the network version by copying 4.23 to a new folder and then making changes in the new folder. Since I knew that this was going to be a LOOOOONG process I continued to make small upgrades to the old version so I could make bug fixes and minor upgrades to the program until PO...

Go to after sale

tryklief, By error I left out the "Go to after sale" feature in the POSnet version. This allows you to choose to go back to the main menu after a sale has been completed or to the next sale. If you choose the next sale then you will not be asked for a PIN number you will go straight to the sale scre...

Nevermind

Ok, I have put the "go to after sale" feature back in. I have also made the change you suggested so that when you finish a return / payout you will go back to the main menu instead of the next sale even if you have chosen to go back to the next sale after the end of the previous sale. I have also fo...

Strange callers

I have received an email from a POS user saying that he received a call from someone asking about the program. Below is part of his note. <hr> Hi Dale.... The person that called me was a female, they if I remember right, their greeting was this is so and so with the dale harris POS program. How do y...

Stuff

Well nuts, see what happens when you try to maintain two versions? :) I will stick the "Return to sale" stuff back in. The delay is probably caused by the program opening and closing the files when they are not actually being accessed. The old version just left them open. This is to limit the amount...

Multiple files

Actually the POS program is written in multiple files for different functions, but I do not want to split up the file that actally rings up the sale, POS.EXE. This is a single function and would add time of execution and complexity to this function if I split it up. There is no need to be concerned....

Who is this for?

Well I see that this topic has now spread into a second thread. Ok, here are my thoughts. I am doing this for two reasons. First, it is fun. Writing code is enjoyable for me. However that is because I do not have to do it. If I do not feel like coding then I don't. I decide when my deadlines are and...
