This is a great idea, You could also do the same thing for vendors. You could do Stock Number C001 for Catogory #001 and V001 for Vendor #001. This idea could really work.

I have a PS/2 CueCat and it works great. The only thing is that you have to hold it at the right angle and swipe it across at the right speed. The barcode also has to be a flat surface that you can press against. I don't think the CueCat will really work if you have to scan an irregular-colored barc...

Well, I think it would be a great idea to assign letters to the first 26 catogories (A-Z). But also, Even if you had a so-called "touchscreen" interface, DOS can't support a mouse so how is it going to support a touchscreen?

Just A Suggestion But You Should Extend the Check Number field from 6 to 9-digits long to support the maximum Check Number Legnth (999999999).
