HELP on XP

Post by Guest » Fri Aug 20, 2004 11:24 pm

Hi,
Trying to get the Cash Register to work on XP, can seems to run.
Try executing POS.EXE from Windows Explorer.

Msg appears that says [ The System file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows Appications. Choose "clos" the terminate the application.,]

Any idea how to get it running on XP?
Thanks
Melvin

POS in XP

Post by Dale Harris » Fri Aug 20, 2004 11:42 pm

I am assuming that after you downloaded the POS.ZIP file that you then unzipped / extracted POS.ZIP?

If you did then there will be an icon for POS.EXE in the folder that you put it in. Use the "My Computer" feature of Windows to open the folder, find the POS.EXE icon, and double click on it.

If that does not work, but you did unzip / extract the POS.ZIP file, then use the Windows "Find" function to search for POS.EXE When it is found then double click on it.

Command mode

Post by Chas » Fri Aug 20, 2004 11:54 pm

Try to run pos from a command prompt!!

Click start
Click run
type command and click ok

from command prompt type cd\pos Press Enter
type Dir Press enter
(Dir Command shows you the files in a folder)
type POS then press Enter

****note**** cd\pos is an example folder! Whatever you named your pos folder needs to be in place of pos

Examples
CD\POSNET
CD\DHPOS

Command

Post by Dale Harris » Sat Aug 21, 2004 12:06 am

Assuming that the program is on the C: drive you can also use COMMAND to type in the path and program name C:\PROGRAM FILES\DALEHARRIS\POS for example to run the program
