Linked stock table items

My shop can do with the feature of linking two or more stock items.
The pupose of this would be for example:- Selling a sixpack of Coke for a somewhat reduced price and the stock level of the single Cokes is reduced by 6.
or:- a pack of envelopes and singles,
I can imagine that this whould take a major re-write of the stock table and would not be used that often, or am I wrong?
