vbPOS Quick Sale Edition v1.0 Beta Released!

Post by dhUser » Tue Mar 21, 2006 10:34 pm

I have released the first beta release of vbPOS Quick Sale Edition. It doed not have many, many, many features, but does the basic things.

Due to the new version of visual basic 2005 being used the following are not supported and will be corrected.
- printing
- displaying change
- It uses a pre-set password (m1), custom passwords will be added on.

You must have windows xp (possibly 2000) and the .NET Framework 2.2

All at http://www.dhuser.pweb.info, go to the quick sale edition page, read and download!

Report any bugs, comments, etc... at the forums at
http://www.dhuser.pweb.info
(forum link: http://www.dhuser.pweb.info/forum)

Enjoy!

I assume this error is in the program, not the installer.

Program Error:
- Verify you are using windows xp
- Verify the .NET Framework 2.0 is installed. The image below should show what the program should look like.
Go into the add or remove programs and search for the .NET Framework 2.0

If it is the installer, please post a reply i will see what i can do.

Any ideas?

Hope that helps also.

Useless

Post by Dukane » Fri Mar 24, 2006 1:28 pm

Completly useless.

Huge disk footprint for a program that does practically nothing. I can use a calculator by hand much more effeciently than this program.

Depends way too much on the mouse and not enough on the keyboard drastically decreasing the speed of any transaction.

Really, I see no benefit to using your program over a conventional calculator, the Windows calculator or any other software product. It's a simple calculator utility not a POS program.

You should concentrate on developing one strong product rather than several weaker projects.

TimLight,
1st... Please note that the program's name is Quick Sale Edition.
2nd... This program will improve
3rd... I am developing the Retail Edition, like DHPOS
4th... About the mouse being used often, I have setup keyboard shortcuts in the menus for things such as logging out, totaling, void, exit, etc... Also to switch fields, you could always use the TAB Key to movie from a textbox to a button. ALT keys for the menu

Changes Needed

Post by Dukane » Fri Mar 24, 2006 5:51 pm

Using the TAB key is not intuitive in the high speed that many transactions occur in. When I press the Enter key, I would expect to move to the next line (as in DHPOS). Likewise, if I make a mistake, I must then press Shift+Tab to go back.

On the total form, the cursor should by default end up in the Payment text box. I have to hit Tab to go there, which would slow down a transaction and perhaps confuse a novice cashier. If I use a dollars sign (a very easy to make mistake) when entering payment, it does not accept the payment (although $12 should be valid!)

Additionally, on the main form. I can enter negative values for the sub total, tax and additional charges. I can enter letters, and they will be accepted, and I can enter NOTHING at all and still be taken to the total form.

The Total Due Edit link does not do anything.

What is the purpose of the discount feature? Why not just enter the post-discount amount as the original sub total.

This program will not allow several methods of payment?

If I wanted this program to fill the screen to prevent staff from accessing other Windows applications, the form fields do not expand to fit the window, they will just hang out in the top-right corner.

TimLight,

I have started the production of the general retail edition. This is the full-featured edition not like the Quick Sale Edition.
