Reset Merchandise Data

I want to have a firm understanding of this one but I can't find an in-depth look on it or I could have simply missed it. To what I understand from gut feel, it is a requirement for every business day. However, if my memory serves me correctly, I also read in the DHPOS software itself that you can also choose from monthly to annualy that makes my previous notion wrong.

Can you shed some insight on this one?

The company I work for does paperwork on a weekly basis. It wants to know how many of each thing I sell in a week and could not care less how many I sell of something in a day.

Therefore if I could use DHPOS im my keyshop I would reset the merchandise data only on Saturday nights and the Saturday night merchandise report would contain all the items I had sold in a week.
