Brother Printer HL2040

Love the program, set up to run our school uniform shop - it's great. Had the program printing successfully to an HP DeskJet last week connected via parallel port. Swapped in a brand new brother laser HL2040 today still connected via the same parallel port and cable. Windows XP will print a test page, but DHPOS will not print anything. It is set as the default printer. The printer responds to requests, but just pushes out two blank pages at the receipt printing time.

Connected the printer over USB using APRINT and all good again, apart from the fact that the two receipt that I ask for print on the same page.

Questions:

Any idea how to get the Brother printing over the parallel port? - could it be the Brother driver.

If I use USB and APRINT as a workaround - how do I get the two necessary receipts to print on to sepaprate pages. The form feed option doesn't seem to work through APRINT.

Thanks, hope I've posted enough information!

Seth,

Some parallel printers must print through their Windows printer drivers which means that you must use APRINT2.EXE

FORM FEED only works if you have the printer setup set to print to a PAGE printer. If you have it set to print CONT. then FORM FEED is ignored.

If you computer ignores FORM FEED altogether then you still must set the printer to print to a PAGE printer and set the number of printed lines to 59 - 60

No Joy!

Thanks for the speedy response. The clarification surrounding APRINT2 is very useful. When I print to the parallel port using the program I do get a print out - so that has clarified that.

Unfortunately, as to getting two receipts on two separate pages, no joy. Continue to get both printed onto one page no matter what the configuration in the printer set up. I suspect that their maybe an issue with the printer driver. APRINT2 on detects Courier New as a font on the printer - I wonder if the lack of Courier could be the issue? Also, there are little squares printed at the end of each of the receipts...

Thanks for your help. I suspect that we make take the easier solution and return to the DeskJet that worked earlier. Any further input would be much appreciated.
