it didnt come with any cables. Bu looking at it all it has is the data port, cash drawer port x2 and im guessing its the power port, but it looks like a ps/2 connection. what is the name for these so i can search and buy one.
Does anyone know the purpose of this type.

Also it is a serial type, is it possible to get a serial to parallel to avoid all the problems....cheers

well you still have to set up the device by either software or dip switches.
search for serial to parralel or sommet with correct spelling, dunno cant help you.

it has is the data port
aye that be the serial connector
search ebay for serial cable or rs232 printer cable etc etc

cash drawer port x2
cash draw kick
search ebay for retail cash draw
im guessing its the power port, but it looks like a ps/2 connection
aye thats right! it sounds like it may be an epson?
well search for the printers make ie epson ab12 power suply

or just go ebay and trawl through a search of epos

Or better still, avoid all the trauma and heartache and chuck it.

I have tried to set up DHPOS using an excellent, fully complete, perfect serial printer and after quite a bit of time and effort, had no results whatsoever.

Look and learn.

DO NOT USE A SERIAL PRINTER WITH DHPOS. ONLY USE PARALLEL PRINTERS. THEY ARE CHEAP (ON EBAY) IN READY SUPPLY AND WORK IMMEDIATELY WITHOUT THE NEED FOR ANY DRIVERS.

On the other hand, you may be a total masochist who likes inflicting pain and suffering on yourself with nothing else to do in life except batter your head against a brick wall.

In which case ...... :?

if it is a epson, you may be able to just change the interface card to make it a paralell printer, these cards can cost as little as 10 dollars and make the printer just like the paralell version

just get the right card

I may have an Epson Parallel adapter lying around. IIRC The Epson TM-U300 does not have a seperate data card.

I've still got 2x Axiohms, 2x Epson H6000II, 1x Epson TM-U210B, 1x Epson 290II slip printer lying in the house and they are all serial.

You will find that 90% of EPOS printers in the UK are serial, I rarely see parallel devices - just the occasional old Star attached to a PC based till.
