From the main menu? I'm running 6.39 because I'm behind the times and it doesn't do anything there, tried it in a sale and nothing either.

However this might be something new - you'll find these little "easter eggs" every so often. Like a lot of people don't know about the popup anywhere [F2] calculator.

My copy of 6.39 is setup as a network version. I've pushed [F4] on the main menu screen in both local and global copies and it doesn't show anything.

[F4]

Post by daleadmin » Mon Oct 16, 2006 10:30 pm

When you press [F4] from the main menu of the POS.EXE program the program will look for a file named NEXTFILE.DAT which is supposed to contain the name of another program file (one that YOU set.)

The other program will run and when it is finished if it calls the POS.EXE program you will be returned to the main menu.

I use this to run a "key finder" program. From the main menu I press [F4]. find a key and exit the program, then I am back at the POS main menu.

How lemon535 is getting what he is getting I have no idea.

ok if anybody wants to try it what to do:

Download current version of pos, jus add one product in, what ever you feel like.

Then ring it up in POS, complete the sale, go to the main menu in POS and press F4

This is what it shows, (im not sure why it is showing 24 hour time it wasnt before.

NOTE: this is what it shows after i reing up a sale and press F4 in the menu. The time indicates when the sale was put through ie when you tender the cash given.

lemon535,
I also get the time of the last sale in 6.38c, just like you say.

Dale, will you please help?

I'm trying to set up the F4 to run Lookup.exe.

It works fine, but does not return me to the Pos main menu when I exit Lookup.
What have I done wrong?

THANX

Return to POS.EXE

Post by daleadmin » Tue Oct 17, 2006 4:28 pm

ToPS,

Bad news. The [F4] feature is designed to run a separate program (that you provide) that when the program quits it does not execute the END command, which just terminates the program, but executes a RUN "POS.EXE" command which will restart the POS.EXE program. LOOKUP.EXE just ENDs
