we are using a handheld scanner for inventory counting or receiving.
this data is a text file.
what should we do to paste this data into receive.exe

File formats

Dale I think he is asking if there is anyway to import his text file into recieve.exe. Or how he can format his text document in order for the POS program to accept it as data that would have come from the recieve.exe program.

Format

Nick,

I thought of that but I have no idea what the format is of the scanner output. Is it text? How are the different fields separated? Does it give you more information than the stock number and pieces received. What other information and in what order?

Not that it all makes a difference at the moment since the current version of the program will only take keyboard input. But if I was to add a feature to import data from the scanner I would have to know the data format of the scanner or even better have one of the scanners here.
Dale
