Box office

Post by daleadmin » Sat Nov 11, 2006 3:53 pm

Not surprisingly the only knowledge I have of selling tickets at a box office is from the other side of the glass, namely purchasing tickets.

So what features would have to be added to the POS program to make it suitable for a box office?

Be specific!

Dale

Someone may build a ticketing program for free but not a whole machine!

I am actually working on an open source movie theater ticket sales program at the moment. Currently, it's still in Pre-alpha but if you would care to help out (not through donations) it would make it go a bit faster.
Development is in RealBasic.
I believe that if you contact the RealSoftware corporation they will give you a free copy (provided you are a Visual Basic developer).
It's called MovieGoer POS if you're interested.

I would be very interested in following this topic and seeing what happens. I am also in the market for a free theatre (live theatre / movie theatre) sales program.

I am not fluent in RealBasic, but I would be very interested in following the status of your project and testing any betas you may have some day! Of course, using the final product as well!

I am in the market for a program to use at an independant live theatre / a movie theatre and this sounds perfect!

Please keep us posted, or direct us to spot to read more about the project and it's progress!

Thank you!

Please help me out by telling me what you want in this software as I have little background in any kind of theater.
A lot of it is common sense but there are things that I know little about.

Do you want me to start a small wiki or forum for this?
