If you have a newer computer that does not have a parallel printer port, and you want to use a receipt printer, you have two options. Spend lots of bucks for a USB receipt printer and then you have to use the POS program while running APRINT2 to print anything. Or for less than $10.00 US you can purchase a parallel printer port card that will slip into one of your desktop computer's PCI slots.

This will require that your computer actually has a free PCI slot and a CD drive to load the driver.

Knowing how to open up your computer, and being able to recognize a PCI slot, is a definite plus.

Being able to operate a screwdriver without having to read the instructions for it will also be helpful.

The point

marine64,

The problem with the USB to parallel cable is that then you have to set DHPOS to FILE: and then run the APRINT2 program to get the printer output sent to the USB port so that the cable can then convert it to the parallel port.

However if you install the parallel port card then you can set DHPOS to LPT1: and you do not have to mess with the APRINT2 program. And the card is cheaper.
