New POS version 6.40c released on 11-6-07. Fatal bug fix

Post by daleadmin » Sun Nov 04, 2007 9:39 pm

Version 6.40b had a fatal bug when the program was not used in network mode.

On all sales after entering in the quantity the program would die.

Version 6.40c fixes this and can be downloaded from the link below.

Read about the new Kitchen feature here...

You will have to use your current version to empty the parking lot of parked sales before you use the new version.

And remember to backup first...

And here is the download page...

I have upgraded to new version

Post by xcinek » Tue Nov 13, 2007 8:54 pm

I have upgraded to you new version Dale. Sorry to tell you but my program shut down today. So there is still some problem with the program. Im thinking of going to the previous version before this started hapening. Is the program going to work ok if I put previous version files on top of new ones?

One thing I'm worried about is if this happens during holidays (knock on wood it doesn't) this could be a serious problem in my store.

It doesn't happen here and it is difficult to track down a problem in 40,000 lines of code without some details.

Got any?

Hey Dale

You are correct It's hard to tell with so many lines of code. Um If i could get a picture of the error I will get it for you but now the program closes 2-3 times a day.

Does any one else has this??????

On average how many sales do you run in a day?

This didn't happen until I updated in July from 6.40 from 6.39 k.

Dale now my question is if I go back to that version 6.39k. I do that just by overwriting the 6.39k files over the 6.40c correct?

thanks for all your help.

Marcin,

You could try overwriting the files with the older version in a copy of your POS folder and see if it works. Also, note - that the one thing Dale stresses every time an upgrade is put out there is to make a backup first, then it's much easier to go backwards.

xcinek,

Before you go back to an earlier version try out this file http://www.dhpos.com/pos640cx.zip

It is a test version 6.40cx of a possible fix. When you unzip it, it will only contain a new POS.EXE file so you only have to backup your current POS.EXE file before you download it.

Hi Dale

I just saw your fix after going to version 6.39k. I will test your fix.
Yesterday the POS crashed 5 x. I have a dell P 1GHZ but that was never a problem. For now Ill stick with 6.39k version.

I'm surprised no one has this problem.

Thanks Dale

xcinek,

First read this http://keyhut.com/faq.htm#filename

If you go back to a version earlier than 6.40 then you will have to delete the file that ends with .PS1

This means that when you do a "Sales report 'A'" that you will not be able to get sales reports prior to when you erased the .PS1 file.

xcinek,

So did version 6.40cx fix the problem or not?

Dale
