As a flowershop, we are approached all the time for donations. We have a selected few organisations we donate to. During our busy periods, when we do not have time to design/create something unique for them, we donate a gift certificate (gift card) - this way it brings the recipient into the store.
Is there a way to enter the gift card number and its value since we cannot enter it as a sale? The gift card number needs to be recorded in order to be used as a form of payment.
Thanks in advance
Mario

There is a section on gift cards in the DHPOS manual here: http://www.dhpos.com/postip3a.htm#pay
(Note: this manual is also available when DHPOS is installed, it is the file named REGISTER.TXT).

Mrdmng,
About the only thing I can think of is to rename the "User defined" payment method to "Donations" and then when you "sell" a gift card use "Donations" as the payment method.
You will have to keep track of your donations since when the card is used the register will treat it as any other purchase meaning that it will be taxed (unless you make the sale non-taxible) and it will effect your profit like any other sale.
