I am working on the KITCHEN.EXE program to get it up to 200 lines and while I am there I am also adding a feature for a second kitchen. Several folks have contacted me over the years telling me that the food part of the order needs to go to the kitchen and the drinks need to go to the bar. So now the program will do that.

CB,

Which other sub programs?

Which items? Why those? Are they past the former 13,000 limit in the stock table? Do they have really long or really short stock numbers? Someting else?

Are you making a manual purchase order? If an automatic order are you sure the missing items need to be ordered?

Details matter.

Also realize that 7.05 is old news, there will not be a new release of that. The current test version is 7.05M200 which does need testing.

I think this version is going to be the release version (New file, see below)
Today I have finished the last program file, REC2CSV.EXE, and done a lot of testing on the whole thing with no problems.

I will continue to do more testing but I am depending on you to find bugs. I promise I will not get mad. :P

Re: 200 lines in a sale.BUG in POSconfg.exe

Post by brucef2112 » Fri May 20, 2011 12:26 am

HELLLOOO!! IS ANYBODY ELSE TESTINGGGG HEERE!?!?!?!?!
[cricket, cricket....cricket]

Dale, I finally got life out of the way and started to do some testing. It didn't take me long. This bug is in the POSCONFG.EXE.
This one is consistent and repeatable. And is a new bug for 200N. (didn't test 200M if there was one. 200L was OK)
The users settings are not being saved for Journal and Records-Voids. It seems to be very specific steps to make it happen. This is another one of those silent bombs that doesn't give warning or error message. But behind the scene it has mucked things up for the user configuration.
[Well, aside from the minor warning when the screen goes black/white.]

Here's how I do it.
Come along!I'll drive...

1. Fresh install of 200n in C:\200n

2. Start POSCONFG.EXE and File Name the register "200N" and Register Name: "200n" > hit [TAB] > hit 1. Config... [Enter] until you are at the Main Configuration Screen.

3. Arrow down 10 times until Journal is highlighted and hit [Enter] then press the Any key. (You should be at the Journal Config Screen).

4. Set the journal configuration like this:

Code: Select all

╔══════════════════════════════════════
║ YES Save journal to a text
║ YES Automate journal at op
║ NO Print the journal at c
║ YES Copy the journal to an
║ DALJRNL .TXT using this file name
║ C: to this drive.
║ YES Archive the journal fi
║ YES Erase & reset the jour
╚══════════════════════════════════════
I did mine by doing the following key strokes:
[TAB] > [ARROW DOWN] > [TAB] > [ARROW DOWN] > [ARROW DOWN] > [TAB] > [ARROW DOWN] > "DALJRNL" > [DELETE KEY] > [Enter] > [Enter] > [TAB] > [ARROW DOWN] > [TAB]
NOW HIT THE [Esc] KEY TO RETURN TO THE MAIN SCREEN.

5. Now from the Main Screen navigate over to and highlight the Sale Recording-VOIDS and hit [Enter].
Set the Sale Recording configuration like this:

Code: Select all

╠════════════════════════════════════════
║ 10,000 Number of sales recorded.
║ YES Allow completed sale voids.
║ NO Require void password.
║ Void password.
║ YES Reprint transactions
╚════════════════════════════════════════
I did mine by doing the following key strokes:
[TAB] > [TAB] > [TAB] > [TAB] > [ARROW DOWN] > [TAB] > [ARROW DOWN] > [ARROW DOWN] > [ARROW DOWN] > [TAB]
NOW HIT THE [Esc] KEY TO RETURN TO THE MAIN SCREEN.

Thats it. You are done. Everything seems OK?

Now go back to the Journal Configuration. What happen????
Did your screen switch to black/white?
Did all your journal configuration data go away?
Mine did.
But Wait! this little gem comes with a bonus feature! Return back to the Sale Recording-VOIDS screen.
Did all your Sale Recording configuration data go away too?
Mine did.

For a bit of fun after all this go ahead and start POS.EXE..

Could this be an older version of POSCONFG.EXE with the new 200N?
A keen eye will see that the POSconfg has a version of 705k200 but is configuring POS 705n200.

Code: Select all

                         ╔══════════════════════════╗ ▄
  ╔══════════════════════╣ Welcome to 'Pos Config' ╠═══════════════════════╗ ▄
  ║ Version 7.05K200 ╚══════════════════════════╝ Revised 5-15-11 ║ █
║ This program configures the POS cash register program. It tells ║ █

Bruce,

OK, just for that (New file, posted below.) That'll teach you not to mess with me.

Actually I have been having a problem with the screen going B&W and was having trouble finding the cause. Your pointing out that the journal was also being reset was just the clue I needed. I have also fixed seom other things. small did post but other than you and him it seems like our team of beta testers are pooping off this weekend.

This does not bode well for shoving this out the door tomorrow.

Everyone snap to it, it's crunch time.

I have added a new baby feature. If you are using long paper (A4, 8.5" x 14", etc.) you can now set the program to print up to 99 lines on a PAGE printer. I have not uploaded this yet.
