Rounding line & total different

Post by mhawthorn » Mon May 09, 2011 1:55 pm

We have an item with a unit price of £9.90 (per kg, although that does not affect the math)

We sell a quantity of 0.195 of it (0.195 Kg or 195 g)

If you work it out on your calculator you will see that the answer (9.9 x 0.195) = 1.9305.

On the order line it rounds this to £1.93.

But when I press ‘+’ to get the total the order total is £1.94.

I would prefer the £1.93 but would settle for a consistent result.

Any ideas?

mhawthorn,

What you describe does happen but I am not sure what I can do about it. The problem is that all the other tax things come out correct and if I fix this will all the other ones go south on me.

More thinking is required.

Thanks, at least I know it is not they way I set it up.

Do you think you will be able to look at this soon or is it on a long list of desirable changes?

Not complaining, just need to know if I need to look for a workaround.

Thanks,

Mike

It will probably be a while, if ever.

Do you think that using the decimals dirrerently could help?

So enter the price per gram (0.0099) rather than per kg and enter the quantity as 195 rather than 0.195.

I guess it depends how the programme rounds.

Thanks,

Mike

I do not know if that will help. Give it a try.

Did not get it to work that way, but in CONFIG if I change tax to be included rather than added it seems to work. Not sure I understand why but just thought I would share it for anybody else that needs it.

In same screen changing rounding from 0.50 to 0.05 does not seem to change anything although seems like it should! :?

Will test more and report back.
