The Version numbers go by Year.Month ... this is only the third release, it is worth downloading, features are still being added, but most bugs are gone, just like dhpos.

I just attempted to try out this program.
I appreciate the warning about not putting the Self Checkout files in your DHPOS folder.
However, I would have appreciated it more in the PDF documentation, and not the program's startup screen, after it already did funny things to my test POS files, and for the record I did not press enter to continue, I exited as soon as I saw the opening screen.

What "funny" things did it do to your pos files?

It made none of them recognizable, DHPOS opened up with a black & white screen, and went to an empty minimally-configured register file.
I didn't experiment any further, I just restored from backup.

Well, I was honestly going to test it, except:
  • I couldn't get it to read any POS files
  • It doesn't save it's configuration, I have to redo it every time I open the program
  • It doesn't seem to like POS files over 1 character (e.g. I had a file called SC1.POS, and the error kept referring to 1.POS, SC.POS = C.POS)
  • It couldn't find a global register?
  • It crashed.

You are the only person out of many who have reported this as a problem, it could be caused because it is not allowed to save anything on to your computer or read anything.

Try running it in administrator mode, could you give me the specs on your computer? Is it running behind any malware programs that may be blocking it?
Are you on a company computer? They may be blocking the software.

Thanks,
emery

Okay, I solved it & got it working by setting up POS on a top-level folder C:\DHSC\
First thing I notice is that the first item scanned does not appear in the list, but is added to the total.

  • No Operator Mode at Cash Payment Screen (e.g. To Park Sale)
  • Can't Go Back at Cash Payment Screen (e.g. Customer Forgot to Scan An Item)
  • No Way To Remove an Item (Common Issue)
  • Customer ID is a Hard Rule: It's either required or unavailable: Have a button to Enter Customer#
  • Program parks empty transactions.
  • Personal Request: Make Total the + Button
So far, I am getting some good testing out of this.
-Chris
Update: I just checked, None of my test sales have actually been recorded.

It will not record sales because DaleH won't let it :(
  • No Operator Mode at Cash Payment Screen (e.g. To Park Sale)
Can't Go Back at Cash Payment Screen (e.g. Customer Forgot to Scan An Item)
No Way To Remove an Item (Common Issue)
Customer ID is a Hard Rule: It's either required or unavailable: Have a button to Enter Customer#
The above list is not a bug but can be added

Program parks empty transactions. -- Not sure, but i will look into it

Personal Request: Make Total the + Button -- Eventually i am going to make it so you can customize every button

Thanks for your feedback
