BUG REPORT: Attempt to save report to file CAN Fail to save

Post by brucef2112 » Sun Jan 06, 2013 4:30 pm

Tested with Version 7.1g and 7.1j
This bug is consistent with all reports that can be saved and is repeatable.
Minor in nature, related to user interface, No damage to data.
This bug may be in the code related to 'over write existing file - Y or N" and a 'flag' not being reset on subsequent runs.

This bug occures after attempting to save a report to an existing file name and then returning to enter a unique file name, the file is not saved. Any subsequent attempts to save again with a unique file name fails to save. The only way to save to a file is to escape back to the REPORTS MENU and re-run the report and then save to a unique file name.

How to re-create.
First, create a text file named 'dummy.txt' and save to the POS directory. This is just to have an existing file name. An alternative is to run any report of your choice and save it to a file named 'dummy.txt'.

1. Go to REPORTS MENU and choose a report. It doesn't matter which one nor the options you select to create the report.

2. Once the report is on screen, hit the [TAB] key. Next, save to file by choosing option 2 or 3(doesn't matter).

3. Enter the file name 'dummy.txt' and hit [Enter].

4. When warned that the 'File exists, Do you want to replace', Select 2. NO
The POS informs you that the "File has NOT been saved. Hit any key". Hit any key to return to viewing the report on screen.

5. Hit [TAB] to attempt to save file again but with a unique file name (any valid DOS File name).
The program will give the warning "File has NOT been saved. Hit any key" and the file is not saved even though a unique file name is provided.

At this point the only way to save to a unique file name is to hit [Esc], go back to the REPORTS Menu, select your report, run it again and then save with the unique name.

Bruce,

I will have to look at this after I finish inventory in the key shop next week.
