Customers in network mode

Hi,
I'm struggling to figgure out how to use the customer feature of POS to make a single customer file while using more than one cash register over a network. I'm using Windows 98 for the network. Has anyone written a set of specific steps to take to set up the network properly? It seems that I get different results when I start from scratch from different starting points.
