error in POS program

I am getting the following error when I enter an amount different from the sales total, ie when it should tell me how much change to get.
"Register is not programmed to print receipts"
and also
"File already open in line 12 of module POS6 at address 5864:37c5
Hit any key to return to system"
Then when I hit any key, everything disappears from the screen, POS isnt even showing on the taskbar. However, if I hit enter again, POS comes back to life.
OK I know you want some details. I am running networked version of POS v6.19. Both the Global and POS folders that I am having problems with are on the computer in question, which is a Win95 on a P166 computer.
The printer is networked Lexmark Optra shared on a WinXP computer. I did try enabling print receipts, and I still get the "file already open" error.
As a side note, I have decided the network version isn't necessary and plan to change to standalone mode. However, when I try to run POSconfig from the global folder, I get an error about a file being corrupt or compressed. Sorry, I know thats important but didn't write it down, but maybe someone will recognize it.
I appreciate any help you can give.
