what programs are used at airports for checking in. I have a small airport and would like to do something like this.

You would probably get by with a simple access database to maintain passengers and check ins.

What sort of features would this require? I had toyed with the idea a long time ago of making a program like this just for fun and programming practice.

Maybe...

I would like Names, Flight #, cost of ticket, seat #, choice of meals, ability to print out a ticket. (just a simple ticket is fine) I would be so grateful if you could make a program with these features and more.

OK, so if we divide that up into information to be stored and maintained:

Passengers
Name, Address, Phone ... ?

Flights
Flight #, Departs, Arrives, Times, Seats available, Meals available ... ?

Tickets
Link to passenger, Link to flight/seat, meal choice, baggage tickets, status (reserved, checked in, boarded) ... ?

The ability to print tickets of course, and other reports - perhaps such as passenger manifests etc. Any other information?

1. I can't imagine that there is much demand for this software - there are a lot fewer airports in the world than shops ;)

2. It would be very easy to create something like that in Microsoft Access if your Basic skills are not very good.

One other thing.... if you're running an airport surely you have the budget to pay for a proper system?
