Symbol LS2208 Scanner

Hi,
I've got a Symbol LS2208 Barcode Scanner. It has a serial connection, i've plugged it into COM2 and enabled SerialKeys in XP on COM2 with 9600 baud rate. Tried restarting and the scanner will not scan the barcode into windows. I've reprogrammed the scanner with the manual (the settings barcodes) for it to work on RS-232 but no joy
Anyone have experience or know how to get it to work?
