Hey all,
I am trying to setup DHPOS on my IBM 4694-307 till and i can not get it to recognise any of the devices?
Machine is running Windows XP. Got a RS485 printer, cash drawer and customer display. I need to get this configured asap so any help getting this to work would be appreciated, as all my stock is in DHPOS.
Thanks

Hi Steve_23,
Welcome to the site.
You will need to find printer drivers for windows and use aprint to get the printer working and posable the cash drawer as well if it is pluged into the printer. You will need to try the cash drawer codes from here http://keyhut.com/popopen.htm.
If the costomer display is connected to RS485 you will not get it to work at all. If there is USB you could get one of these from here and use it.

Steve,
My POS software is designed to run on a standard PC computer with standard PC computer ports / hardware. Purpose built POS systems usually use specialized ports / hardware so that you have to use their software and hardware.
Jon could possibly write a modified APRINT type program to do what you want but in order for him to do it he would need to physically have a IBM 4694-307 till in his lab/reasearch center/work shop/junk area behind the furnace.
On the other hand he has been known to do miracles. Try waving tickets to Disney world in his face and see what happens.

Steve,
Does the till run Windows? Is there a Windows driver for the printer? Is the cash drawer connected to the printer or the computer?

Re: IBM 4694-307 DHPOS Support
Dale,
Yes the till is running Windows XP Pro SP2 currently, it has picked up all the peripherals eg printer, cash drawer as Human Interface Devices.
The printer is connected directly to the computer via a RS485 connection, the windows driver is installed.
The cash drawer is connected directly to the computer again via a RS485 port. I have tried the IBM drawer codes on the website but they do not appear to work.
Thanks
Steve

Re: IBM 4694-307 DHPOS Support
Steve,
You should be able to print through the windows printer driver by using APRINT5, read this http://keyhut.com/postip4.htm
You are pretty much screwed on the cash drawer though. The control codes listed on the website only work if the cash drawer is connected to the printer. The only other option is to get Jon to write a special version of the CDK program but he would have to have your register in his lab for that. You can come to the chat room to ask him if you wish http://keyhut.com/chat.htm

Steve_23,
He sent you the email last night using the email address you posted when you joined this forum. If you did not get the email the address may be wrong. Send the email address you want Jon to use to me at daleharris@prodigy.net and I will forward it to Jon.

Steve_23,
If you want to talk to someone in the chat room you have to come there when we are there. That would be between 8:00 pm and 10:00 pm central time.
