Receipt labels
Tina,
Remember that when you first use version 6.27 that you have to use the "Receipt language" feature in the POSCONFG.EXE program to set all of the receipt labels to their default. Then you can change them back to anything that you want.

New screen wins!
The new screen wins. All further version of the POS program will have the new "sale" screen.
Here is the latest beta 6 version of the POS program. http://keyhut.com/pos.zip
This is very close to the final release version of the program.

Default, default
Tina,
You have inspired me. The program will now load the default receipt labels the first time anyone runs the new version.
There, that should cause mass confusion. I bet my email count goes way up after this one.

Reciept Language
I did load the default settings in the prior beta release. I will try again with the new release. I think your idea to load all default values makes sense becasue it will be ready to run right after install. People can then customize it later if they want to.

Final beta version.
Ok folks, I think that this will be the final beta version of POS 6.27. You have 24 hours to find something wrong or I am going to upload the release version for general download.

Details
peewee3ie,
Got some more details on this? The main menu on which program file? What do you mean by "cannot see the main menu of the software?" Screen is blank? Just the menu is blank? Program hangs up before the menu is displayed? If you reload / re-run the program does it happen again?
Not being able to see the main menu is not something that could go unnoticed. People have been testing various beta versions for over a week with no previous mention of this problem.
It could be caused by some weird group of settings that you are using on your register. Could you send to me your register parameters by sending your ???????.POS file as an attachment to an email to daleharris@prodigy.net

Latest Beta
Dale,
Just when you think it's all ready to go... When you preform a "cash drop" everything works fine except for when you goto look at the "void" screens. It always subtracts .01 from the amount you drop. <ie 150.00 becomes 149.99>, as well as apearing this way on the journal. Yet the reciept from the transaction, and the totals on the sales report are fine.
I had the same "main menu vanishing" thing happen when I first downloaded the new version and when into "POS" first. Then I opened "POSCONFG", closed it and tried "POS" again and everything was ran fine.
I do like the cash pull/drop feature, but I'm with Tina on the rewording. I guess I'm just not used to it, but pull/drop sound like the same thing to me. Infact at work they're just another term that some use to describe "pickups". We refer to "pulls" as a "loan" because the office is "loaning" it to the register. Why not just change it to match the main menu? Cash Pull becomes Cash In, and Cash Drop becomes Cash Out. That way it's easier for people not familiar with the terms, fairly universal, and matches the lingo on the main screen.

Fixed
FormicaFun,
People around here wonder why I get heart palpitations as a new release of POS draws near. It is the little piddling stuff that drives me nuts.
Thanks for pointing out the 1¢ error it was a quick fix once I knew it was there. It was just an error in displaying the amount, it was stored correctly internally.
Since the problem with displaying the menu is apparently self correcting the uploading of the new version is still on schedule for tonight.

Re: Cash back
No, please don't disallow overpayment. Or at least leave us the option to allow it via posconfg.Dale Harris wrote:I guess I could prevent overpayment on a sale if credit is one of the payment methods used. That would still allow cash back on checks if credit is not also used as payment.
I find this much easier (= faster) than using the cashback feature.
Let's say 1 or 2% of the customers ask for extra cash, I don't want to have the cashback "dialog box" popup on every sale (I know it's not much work to <enter> it away, but still...) and I don't mind doing the math myself.
If I'm no longer able to calculate those things from my head, I know it's time to book a room in a mental institution.

Over payments
JF Mous,
Over payments will still be allowed. However if X-Charge ever gets finished and you sign up for it you will have to use the "cash back" option.
