Dale: As always, Thanks for taking the time to respond. The idea was rather simple, but I do agree that the code and time needed to get it done properly would not be worth it. Anyway, it's good to hear from you! 8) Take care... -------------------------------------------- ibmsystems: After my initia...

Another suggestion....
Dale, It wouldn't take long at all to create an external program to reference for the copy. I do agree with you regarding the amount of time it would take transferring several large files. However, I was thinking about how to best implement this method when another idea came to mind. Instead of a ti...

Code not possible?
ibmsystems: With all due respect, I beg to differ. Qbasic is more than capable of performing this operation. Basically, there are two ways (possibly more) to go about it. 1. Reset data file position to the beginning, read through it and route data to the backup destination. In essense, an internal c...

Suggestion for timed data backup within POS.EXE
Dale, I was thinking that it would be a good idea to setup a timed backup feature within POS.EXE. It would be configured via POSCONFG of course. Example: * Users sets time interval (2 hours, etc.) and destination for the timed backup via POSCONFG. Simple enough. Short time intervals (ie. < 1.5 - 2 h...

Backup suggestions to avoid catastrophic data loss....
I posted this back in October of '04 and am posting it up again because it is important to get into the habit of backing up your data. -Rickpos Side note: Dale, can you make this a sticky? Thanks! -===========- If you've worked with computers even a short amount of time, you've heard stories of some...

Does your display pole support the CD5220 command set?
This is a follow-up poll to the "Question of the week..." I posted a few days ago. After doing some research, it seems that many display poles support the CD5220 command set. That being the case, I am going to work with Jonathan Simpson (maintainer of POLE.EXE) to include support for this command se...

Question of the week...
Please take a moment to cast your vote. We're trying to get a sense of how many DHPOS users would run the program in Native DOS if display pole support would be added. Another reason is because Windows is temperamental at times and causes problems with DHPOS. No business needs those kinds of issues!...

Display Pole Test Program
2fdx/tryklief, In the next week or so, I'm going to code a quick program that will test the display pole codes you posted. It will allow you to configure the comport info as well as choose which command set to use. If they work, at least at the basic level, I will talk with Dale regarding their addi...

While not simple, it's not all that complicated either.
Folks, please take a moment to read the following thread if you're serious about helping Dale, Jon and I to further support for display poles for DHPOS: http://www.home-nets.biz/discuss/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=539 Quite simply, I proposed an idea to Dale and Jon which would have the user enter their ...

Display Pole Codes Requested from all
Hey folks, Apparently, the request has fallen upon deaf ears, so I'm asking that anyone that uses (or plans to use) a display pole with DHPOS (under DOS or Windows), please reply to this message with the escape codes necessary for a simple text placement across the LCD. Please include: * Manufacture...

** BETA Testers Needed for Display Pole Feature **
This message is intended for those users that have display pole hardware that can be tested with code being implemented into DHPOS and POSCONFG. Simply stated, this is the initial phase and will only need the basic escape codes to clear the screen and get text placed on both lines. The average displ...

Feature for attaching files...
Jon,
IMHO, the security and space concerns far outweigh the need for such a feature. I'll just wait for the user to send me a message with their email address.
Thanks for the offer!
