Pole display

Post by Dale Harris » Mon Jul 05, 2004 4:40 pm

guppy,

The hold-up is that we don't have a pole display to use to test the feature. Do you? Want a copy of the pole program to try out?

We think that it is working and we are waiting for reports from people who are testing it to report back.

When we get enough reports saying that it is working it will be released and the notice will be posted under the "pole display" subject.

Last I read, the website http://www.imustescapecrazedposusers.com has exceeded it's bandwidth allowance due to a massive influx of visitors (inpatients?).

Anywho - because no-one donated $5 to their website, they too have been forced to temporarily close the site and assist their current user base until such time as finances allow re-opening (or until there are less/no more crazed POS users, which do you think will come first?) 8)

Very subtle, yet creative

Currently I am not doing anything with the POS program except for bug fixes. I want to finally get a version as bug free as possible and I am taking a little vacation from POS.

However that does not mean that we cannot make plans for the future. The only features that are currently in the pipeline are the customer accounts feature which will be a huge project and take a really long time to complete and to finish the "purchase" program.

But what do you want? Post here your thoughts on the next feature that I should add to POS. This is not a vote, I will read your suggestions and I will decide what to do next. But you never know, the next thing that interests me might be your suggestion.

Also post your thoughts on the suggestions posted by others or even the customer accounts or finishing the purchase program. You may sway my decision to something that you want or convince me not to do something you don't want.

Except no pocket PC, that is not going to happen at least by me. :)
Do you mean by customer accounts, is that like store cards and gift vouchers? if not , you could add those

i would like items that can be set up to have an indefinate inventory amount.
For example in a video store you can have a video rewinding charge, but want to keep track of How many times it has been charged. Also customer charge account would be great, And maby gift certs.

Customer account is a buy now - pay later feature. However using your own initiative you could easily use them for credit voucher systems.

I hope everyone posting in this thread realised that Dale wasn't after all the features that have already been suggested.

bdude, I use a few items like you're describing and you can either use a category and run a Total by Category report or run History by Stock Number report. I use these for certain items since my store is run for such a short period of time (2 months).

I would like the ability to add a note on receipts, it could be a flag for someone reviewing the journal. I.e. this item was returned on xx/xx/xx, or this customer keeps returning things, watch out!
