last received date

Is there any chance of having a "last received date" field included in the stock table? I suppose the date could come automatically from the Receive program, or be entered manually. For my needs, this would allow me to get a better handle on tired or dead stock.

Dave,

Changing the format of the stock table is not easy. The last time I did it it took 2 months. Remember that all parts of the program access the stock table so all parts of the program would need to be updated.

But what you are asking for is a function of the stock "history." That will tell you how many of an item you have sold in the last x (up to 12) months.

Thanks for the quick reply. I accept that the change is something larger than you are likely to undertake. That said, let me clarify what I was originally thinking about its potential uses. First, the wish has nothing to do with sales history for me. I know where to find that information already in the program. I was hoping for help in identifying the last time I added inventory of a particular stock number to the system. Some of the items in my stores are only carried seasonally (like at Christmas time) and are often (but not always) only available in the year they were orignally offered. If I can see in which year or month I added the item, it would tell me quickly whether or not I am likely to be able to re-order it without having to dig through piles of past vendor catalogs to find it. For example, at present it is difficult to discern in the system whether the two pieces I have left in inventory were purchased this year or last, and because of the 12 month limit on sales history I can't really back into the information either, because I could very will have ordered it two years ago, sold 50 that first year, and 48 this past year.

But, as I said to start this, I accept your explanation for not wanting to do the change. My request is probably too unique to me anyway.

Thanks
