Hi
Thanks for the link. I am familiar with the page, but there is no list of what people have used successfully. There is, tho, some links to people who sell equipment, and interested users would have to click each one and only see what is being offered by these vendors. And compared to all the various sources of POS suppliers, there's not too many. What I was hoping to do was just have a simple list of units that people have found to work without having to wade through limited vendors' supply lists, who may not even sell in someone's (global) location.
When equipment purchases for free software exceeds the cost of a comparable cash register it makes it more difficult to justify the expenses. I'm sure there's many people who don't mind shelling out a few bucks for used equipment found elsewhere, models that may not be on those vendors' lists.
The more, the merrier.

My setup
I aquired 2 complete Compuregister setups, they are a little older model, but they work with DHPos so well.
Cherry keyboard
both 14 & 9 inch monitors
Citizen idp 3540 serial printers
compuregister cash drawer
These have actual motherboard setup, with hard drive and all like an actual computer so I have Win98se loaded and when I do not need DHPos
I can surf the web, check E-mail, since I have it on cable internet. I am able to play music through my speakers, make a sound cd of specials and play it during the day, can order parts from vendors, check internet prices of products, really nice. Only took me two years
to get this all figured out but thanks to Dale for all his hard work, I can boast about my systems.

I have never found a model number or name, just on the front where the keyboard seats is a plate with Compuregister embossed on it.
The boards used are of a 486 type using 72 pin simms memory, on one I have the memory up to 96meg, the other I have replaced the old board that went haywire, with an intel board using an Intel 200mhz processor with memory around 128 meg, this is my main register where I have all the bells and whistles.
I wish I could give a better answer

At work we will be using an Eposn TM-270 Serial printer converted to LPT1, two other Epson printer models (sorry forgot the models but they're Thermal receipt printers). Ad far as equipment goes, We'll be using a Pentium 2 400 mhz as the 'Back Office' computer running on NT Server (4). The workstations (3) will be either Compaqs I have lying around here or a few of the Dells we found at the job.
Here are the choices we have:
Here are the choices we have:
- Compaq Prolinea 5120 with a 504 mb hd and 48 mb RAM
Compaq DeskPro 4/66 with a 250 mb hd and 4 mb RAM
AST Advantage 6066D 5x86 133 w/ a 400 mb drive and 8 mb RAM
Dell 433 upgraded to 66 mhz with 16 mb RAM
And last but not least an IBM Aptiva PII 400 fitted into a clone case as the server

We at Cool Cat Sales are using a AMD K6-2 CPU with 128 meg ram and 20 gig hard drive and Windows 98 SE.

We just installed a Logic-Controls CR3002 Serial interface, Self-Powered(know external power adapter or printer diver circuit to open drawer) that know is supported in ver 5.03 Thank you Dale.
We us a standerd windows key board.
This setup works great for use with very little cash lay out.
The drawer is avalable from Barcode MegaStore at a very nice price.
